Planning Cinematography

The purpose of cinematography is to keep the audience interested with different angles, this can also be used to represent characters as more powerful by the angle. This can also show the characters emotions and feelings.

We got the idea to put glitter in to a base speaker form the music video 'King of Hearts' by Cassie, having this is a convention of the dance genre, it makes the audience see the bass within the song as well as hear it emphasising the dance feel to the song due to all the sad storyline. We are using a still centred angle of the speaker to that we can see how high it can bounce as well as a high angle planning over the top. we also will have a high angle of it so that we can see how much there is and it vibrate against the bass. From these shots we hope the speaker will make the glitter bounce around reflecting on what the guy is doing to the girls emotions. We will have to find a way to stop the glitter from going everywhere within the song otherwise there will be none left by the end.

We are going to put in a shot of the artist from a high angle, by doing this it will reflect on how small she feels while her boyfriend is out cheating, but also on the emotional effect it has. This shot also makes the artist look more innocent and venerable to the audience which is how we want her to seem in this part of the song while its slow, so when it speeds up she seems like she's gained power. It is conventional to have high angle shots of an artist while they are upset within a music video this is shown in 'Now You're Gone' by Basshunter. This music video has a scene where the girl is looking at her phone, we would like to use this within our video because it was effective, and showed a good reason for the character to be upset.

The hight angle shots and low angle shots with fast movement is something conventional to have within a dance music video, this is shown within the 'Locked Out of Heaven'  by Bruno Mars.  We are going to use this in the club scene to emphasis that they are having a good time and the speed of the music, by having high and low angles change its looks like fast movement meaning the night is going well. We will also have a very high angle of everyone dancing so they we can emphasis the large amount of people in the club. We are also planning to have footage of peoples feet dancing so we can have a very low angle. With the high angle shots we will have our artist to wear heels so she stands out more than the others around her so she is the tallest person.

This shot will be used when they walk around the forest by doing this we can see them come together. We also are thinking of using this but having a tree in the middle and once they walk past the guy will be gone, shadowing whats going to happen later on. This show will be very effective because it will shock and confuse the audience because it will be the first sign of them not being together, giving them an idea on the later events.  We will also use panning shots for the firework scenes this will have them together and apart so that we can use different shots in different stages of the video so that it will have a greater affect on the audience. By having them in the middle of a field they will seem alone, with the smoke it will enhance the though of loneliness and miss trust within there relationship. With the firework scenes we have also decided to use low angle shots so that the smoke and fire works stand out more this will express the bright lights which will represent the situation by the colour, this also shows the artist facial expression more, this is conventional to have the artist face as a main shot, this makes the artist more well known and its what the record company wants to boost sales. We have planned to use a low angle shot at the pool table to show the closeness of the guy and girl, this will also look better when they play and the the balls go towards the camera.

  1. This post demonstrates some good planning techniques and the different camera shots that you would like to include within your music video. You have considered your research well and why you would like to implement certain shots.

Now you need to explain where the shots will be seen, the effect it will create and how the audience can build a relationship with the artist, to demonstrate further planning techniques.
